my four days in the island

Boracay, more than for what it is now known for, is truly home for someone who appreciates her roots and the beauty of her birthplace. I am so grateful that I get to see this side of the island from Chan’s eyes.

Chan told us that the old Boracay is barely there. But at least I got see bits of it -from the darkness of the shore farthest from the crowd, from the spontaneous arrangement of the stars.

But there’s more of the island that made it so close to home. Perhaps it was the combination of the beach, the company that I have, and the nudge of alcohol. Perhaps it was the anticipation itself of finally being able to tell everything.

Whatever it is, it sure gave me the voice to let it all out. And the shore just listened. The waves answered with reassuring calmness. And because of that, Boracay will always be special.

happy place

[1] They say that my nerves would be my downfall. And when I say they, I mostly mean the voices inside my head.

[2] I have this talent to launch words that could cut like diamonds. I regret, however, saying these double sided blades the moment they come out of my mouth.

[3] I’d like to think that I have overflowing passion poured all over the wrong places. And no matter how many expletives I use in a sentence, know that I could never stay angry at you for so long.

[4] Because you are bright, you are sunny, you are calm. You are my happy place, love.

to ze beach!

Terribly, terribly hot weekend. On afternoons like this, I could only think of one thing: ze beach. I’ve already made two beach trips so far (and I’m not stopping there, universe). One is in Guimaras last February and the other one is the impulsive trip to Batangas last Saturday.

Guimaras is a dream destination for me. This province prides itself not only for having the sweetest variety of mangoes in the country, but also for its beautiful shores.

My cousin and I stayed in Guisi Clearwater Resort, which is about an hour ride from Jordan (pronounced as  ’Hordan‘) Port. Ate Josie and her staff are the best. They even bought sodas for us to a not-so-near-sari-sari store when they ran out off supply.

A tip for those who would want to get away from the crowd  and have the whole beach resort for yourself – book your flights on weekdays. We arrived in Guimaras on a Tuesday and boy, did we feel like we owned the whole island. Aside from getting liquor dipping and marveling at how amazing astrophysics is, we also did island hopping where we get to visit two caves, a secluded cove, and a research facility on fishery. I say that’s a lot to accomplish in one day.

And last Saturday, in a desperate attempt to escape the heat, my friends and I had an impromptu road trip to Batangas. It wasn’t much of beach, but a beach nonetheless.

vanishing

“Ghosts are not meant to be summoned, L. They should remain dead for a reason,” her Lola Bating used to say. As if the old lady already knew what would happen in the next few years.

And whatever she saw proved to be true.

But no matter how much she respects her Lola’s wisdom, L knew in her heart that there’s this one particular ghost she could never get rid off.

lots of things to say, few things to write

I’m excited for two things:

One, is because I’ll be having sands between my toes in two weeks! People shouldn’t be working at this time of the year. We should all be chilling in the beach, I say! (or at least that’s how things would work in my world)

Second, is because E and I are about to turn one. Oh the sweet smell, of accomplishment! I am definitely at my happiest. (wait, did I already write that before?)

Though some ghosts will never be vanished, it’s still E or no one else for me. And we have the cheesiest date for an anniversary. But whatever, it’s all love, universe. It’s all love. <3
